Dear Helen,
I totally understand how you are feeling, my animals are like my family, i recently took in a cat that was in really bad state and i thought that i could make it better and all would be well, but scuff as we called him died and to be quite honest it broke my heart, even though we didnt have him that long, i still have 2 other cats and a dog, and as i say they are like family, i have no children so in a way they are my substiute family and alot of love and care goes into them which i enjoy.
So try not to worry you are quite normal to feel such a loss, it takes time and you will get over it and keep your memories of your loved cat close.

Hello Helen
I'm so sorry for your grief Helen.
I understand your grief, I am so very close to my cat and will be completely devastated one day. I know grief, I have had mainly dogs in the past, but a few stray cats adopted me as well as stray dogs, as well as the dogs i've owned along the way. I have to admit I am closer to my cat that my previous pets, maybe because he is a housecat and I find that he is even more like a dog than a dog, a faithful companion.
He is a loving companion, and although I obviously don't love him the same way that I love my now grown-up son, the cat is a pivotal part of my family and I would protect him with my life.
Only you know now if you are ready to take on another pet at this time who may help to fill the hurt in your heart with love, or you need time to consider it. He wouldnt want you to be so distressed, he would want you to remember him fondly and love another.
