Seen many of the programmes and interesting that Benjamin Fry often says that problematic relationships with fathers is often a trigger for debt problems. Wondering why exactly this is.

Always had a lousy relationship with mine, and also pretty much always had money problems! But was wondering why exactly the relationship with fathers (and not say Mothers) can have an effect (negative) on how you handle money?

Is it due to maybe fathers traditionally being breadwinners and achievers, and a problem with the relationship affecting these areas of our own lives consciously or subconsciously?

If you go under the spendaholics tab to the message posted by guest_beth (thats me!) 'Beat one disaster area, another one comes along' and look at the reply by benjamin I think you might get your answer. His second answer is quite useful too.

As for why its fathers I don't know. Maybe they just, as a general rule, control more of the money in the house, and in the case of mine use that to try and control people.
