Hi
I'm not in any way medically trained so feel free to take what I say with a pinch of salt, but I do know several people who have been on Prozac (or similar) and I used to work in mental health so have seen how it can help and not .
My take would be Prozac and similar are used to suppress emotions at a time when you can't otherwise cope - it does not help you deal with the issue and can affect your personality when you are on it i.e. making you a bit harder and less sensitive to others. I would say coming off it from my observation does not so much bring back the symptoms but puts you in a situation where you have to find some way to deal with what caused them in the first place. You also can get a whole load of side effects from coming off the drugs to confuse matters. From what I have seen if you try and address the underlying issue it is far more effective than any drug you can get.
